For decades, politicians have been promising to bring value-add manufacturing to British Columbia, so that more BC jobs are created for every log harvested.
Over the last 15 years, BC has lost more than 45,000 jobs in the forestry sector. Today a dozen large forestry corporations control most of BC’s merchantable timber. Instead of allowing BC’s value-added wood producers to purchase this wood to create more BC jobs, these corporations export jobs to other countries.
Premier John Horgan says he has a plan to finally create more value-added jobs in British Columbia by directing more wood for domestic manufacturing. Tell John Horgan that unlike the many politicians before him, you want your Premier to deliver on his promise to create more value-added jobs in BC.
